Five ways to elevate an event!

We can't all have ostentatious parties like Jay Gatsby, but that doesn't mean we can't have as much (or more) fun with a gathering of friends and loved ones. Sometimes, the little things, done right, jazz up our event. So here are a few of our simple but effective suggestions.

Table Decorations

A perfect table design always begins with the barebones. Complimenting seat covers and tablecloths are the necessary building blocks: with a good set, you will be off to the right start. Always remember steam, steam, steam! A good steaming will give off that lovely polished look for your event. Sprinkle some extra magic with beautiful ribbons for seat covers and a grand bouquet (or something equally vivid) for the centrepiece on the table. If the budget allows, opt for an upgrade from basic plastic chairs; remember to ensure your theme coordinates. For example, if your event is a jungle safari theme, make the perfect match with bamboo chairs. It may not be rocket science, but getting the little details right can be the difference between an okay event and a great one.

Mise-en-scène

Like in film or theatre, too much (or the wrong kind) of something, be it the lighting effects or the set props, can spoil the experience projected to the audience; the same is true of an event. Cluttering too many random things at your event (e.g. gift bags) can create too much visual pollution and spoil the balance and mood of the occasion. Not to worry! There are ways to make every aspect of your event seem streamlined and fun. For example, your gift bags can be presented hanging on a gorgeous themed wall with stunning captions, signs, decorations and balloons. Don't miss out on any details; no matter the budget, you can get every little part right.

Balloons! Balloons! Balloons!

Whether hiring someone or doing this yourself, make sure that your balloon display is full-bodied, detailed, and balanced and that no gaps or strings can be seen (unless a gap is there on purpose - this should be obvious and not look like a mistake).

Tip: get yourself a balloon shine/gloss spray to give the balloons that extra touch unless the display requires matt balloons, in which case make sure to double-stuff them to provide them with a fuller, richer tone.

Confectionary Delights

Having delicious, beautifully crafted confectionary and baked goods at any event is a must for making it stand out. Whether it is cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, or any other treat, choosing items that fit the event's theme is essential. For instance, if the event has an aquatic theme, consider using crushed cookies to create a sand display.

For those with a smaller budget, it is possible to order a few speciality items to create a stunning display and then have some store-bought treats ready to serve to guests. This way, everyone can enjoy a delicious treat while the presentation stands out. Furthermore, it is important to ensure enough speciality items to serve every guest.

Bringing Themes Together

If you're looking for a cohesive event theme, the best way to achieve this is to use a single theme and a consistent colour palette. However you can change the traditional colour palette of a specific character, for instance, if you want a superhero theme (usually bold and bright), you could use a pastel colour palette and add some bold superhero elements, such as white plates with lightning bolts, or use more playful superhero characters, like PJ Masks. To ensure your theme looks cohesive, you must be careful and detailed when blending contrasting themes or characters. It is important to consider the colour combinations and how they will work together to create a pleasing overall look. Include other decorative elements such as balloons, tablecloths, and other decorations that match your colour scheme and theme. By doing this, you can ensure that your entire event looks cohesive and visually pleasing.
